St. Clair County had a record-breaking January to start of 2020. Residential sales were higher in January 2020 than January 2019 for most of the Metro-East. St. Clair County had 9.5 percent increase in homes sold. Jersey County had a 16.7 percent increase. While Montgomery and Jersey had similar increases with 73.3 percent and 76.8 percent more homes sold. For the entire state of Illinois, closed sales are up 12.2 percent.
Home prices were on the rise in Macoupin, Madison, and Clinton counties in January, with 6.6 percent, 1.6 percent, and 0.6 percent. Home prices in Illinois are still up 2.2 percent from January 2019 and the Metro-East is up 0.9 percent. The average home price in the Metro-East is $134,000.

Jersey and Macoupin County homes sold faster than January 2019 with 40.9 percent and 48.7 percent.
